Becoming a member is a way of visibly demonstrating your commitment to the profession and the professional standards that are required of you. It enhances your status with colleagues and employers alike and helps you stay ahead of the competition in your career.

UKHRI has developed a range of membership benefits to provide support for your career development and recognition for your professionalism, whatever stage of your career you are at.

Affiliate

“Your journey begins” 

UKHRI affiliate membership is our entry-level grade. It is designed to support those in full-time study, with a significant element of human resource management in their course. It is also suitable for employees interested in or are already working in HR and people management.

APPLICATION ROUTES:

Since this is our entry-level membership grade, no previous certification or experience in the profession is required.

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

  • New Member Fee: £200
  • Renewal Fee: £150

Online library of HR profession material: Access a wealth of guidance, detail and in-depth knowledge, with over 2,000 pages across a broad range of human resource management topics.

HR journal archive: A fantastic resource for research and learning, with key articles from back issues available online.

Associate

“The Essentials for Success”

Associate membership will help you improve the contribution you make in the effective management of human capital. The resources available to you will support you in the development of your role, helping you adopt new practices and methods to keep you and your skills at the forefront of the profession.

APPLICATION ROUTES:

There are two routes available for anyone interested in becoming an associate member: the Certification route and the Experience route. To apply for Associate Grade, you must decide on the route suitable for you.

Certification Route:

  • At least one year people centric experience, and hold atleast the UKHRI CHRA certification (or it's industry equivalent)

Experience Route:

  • At least two years' HR and / or people management experience

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

  • New Member Fee: £250
  • Renewal Fee: £200

Full Member

“Equipped to Excel”

Full membership of UKHRI demonstrates your experience and professionalism within the HR community. This recognition and credibility of your experience is also supported by opportunities to network and continue your personal development journey.

APPLICATION ROUTES:

There are two routes available for anyone interested in becoming a Full member: the Certification route and the Experience route. To apply for the Full Member Grade, you must decide on the route suitable for you.

Certification Route:

  • At least two years' managerial experience in HR and / or people management
  • UKHRI CHRBP certification or above OR a related HR Level 4 or above certification

Experience Route:

  • At least four years HR and / or people management experience
  • At least three years' managerial experience

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

  • New Member Fee: £300
  • Renewal Fee: £250

Fellow Member

“Inspiring Vision and managing action”

Fellow Membership level is intended for senior-level HR professionals who engages primarily in a strategic role, possesses numerous years of HR experience working on strategic projects, consultancy, and forms part of an organisation’s senior management team. If you have extensive experience and can clearly demonstrate a sustained or significant contribution to the profession or wider industry, you may be eligible.

APPLICATION ROUTES:

Since this is our most prestigious grade and a true mark of distinction and an aspiration for all, there is only one route available for anyone interested in becoming a fellow member: the Experience route.

Experience Route:

  • At least twelve years HR and / or people management experience
  • At least eight years' managerial experience

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

  • New Member Fee: £500
  • Renewal Fee: £250

Benefits

Professional recognition: Post nominal letters to use on your letterheads, business cards, CV, proposals and emails, encapsulating your professional standing for all to see. Fellows of UKHRI may use the post-nominal FUKHRI (Fellow of the UK Human Resource Institute)

Leadership forum: An exclusive invitation to this event for senior members of UKHRI, with a key-note speaker and networking opportunities.

Leadership newsletter: Keeping the leaders of the profession up to date with the latest new thinking, research and government and industry insight.

Enamel badge/certificate/branded item: A range of ways for you to demonstrate your professional standing in team meetings, at conferences, in interviews and when meeting with clients.

Other opportunities: Fellow members are given opportunities to ‘give back’ to the profession, for example, through awards judging, membership of key development groups and presenting opportunities.

Voting rights: Fellow members are entitled to vote in board elections and at general meetings. You may also stand for election to the UKHRI board and hold a range of volunteer roles in the association.

Progression between each category of membership will require a member to apply using an online form which will be reviewed by our in-house advisory board before recommendation for acceptance.

When applying to move from Full Member to Fellow Member, an individual’s application will require additional supporting documentation, including testimonials, qualifications and/or evidence of related published articles/works demonstrating the members’ potential to represent the UKHRI as a thought-leader.
